What are the features of the LS-120 technology?

Store 120MB of data on a single diskette

Each 3M LS-120 diskette comes pre-formatted, with a full 120 MB of usable capacity. That's 80 times the capacity of conventional 3.5" diskettes - enough space to hold a blueprint for a 30-story building. Or 100 spreadsheets. Or 300 word-processing documents. Or a complete interactive presentation. No matter what you're doing with your computer, LS-120 diskettes will let you do more of it.

As easy to use as a standard diskette

Best of all, you already know how to use LS-120 technology. The diskettes work just like the conventional 3.5" diskettes you're using today. Whether you're using Windows™3.1, Windows95™or WindowsNT™, just insert the diskette into the drive. That's it. There's no formatting needed and no commands to remember. And in most cases, no special software to install. Just plenty of capacity at your fingertips.

Move up to high capacity -- without leaving your old diskettes behind

Today, there are billions of 3.5" diskettes in use around the world. That's a lot of diskettes - and a lot of valuable data. Other high-capacity storage solutions aren't compatible with those diskettes, and require you to have two drives if you still want to have access to all of your existing files. LS-120 technology, on the other hand, is completely backward-compatible. The drive simply replaces the 3.5" diskette drive, and its "dual-gap" head can read and write conventional 3.5" HD and DD diskettes. So you can add capacity without losing touch with all of your old data.

Store and Retrieve data up to five times as fast as conventional diskettes

To make sure you spend your time working instead of waiting, LS-120 drives spin at high speed, allowing them to read and write data up to five times as fast as conventional diskettes drives. LS-120 drives can read and write conventional diskettes.
